I have had a slow leak in one of my tires. Not bad, kind of one of those "yeah I probably should put some air in the tire when I get gas" sort of things.

Well, just to be on the safe side, since the past few weeks it's been on a weekly basis I've needed to do that, I decided to take my car in to the tire-fixing place in town and have them fix it. After all, they are the tire-fixing place, and the little happy tire on their logo even says TIRES on it!

Now, quick flashback – about 4 months ago, I had a gas station attendant point out to me a nail that was lodged in the rubber of my tire. Just a small construction nail, not through the wall, just on the outside.

It didn't look too problematic, as I have beefy 4×4 tires. So I left it alone. For 4 months.

Now, it's the same tire that has had a slow leak, so of course I expected that nail to still be there, and to be the likely culprit.

But I did not expect that when I went to pick up my car, the mechanic would show me, not the single nail he extracted, but more than a DOZEN!

The guy told me he'd worked there for 20 years and never seen a tire with that many nails still hold air.

Ok, well, apparently God was looking out for me.

So, happy my tire was fixed, I paid and drove away.

Fast forward about 6 hours.

I walk out of the house to drive to town, and…

Yes, you guessed correctly.

I HAVE A FLAT TIRE.
