I'm just working and had to blab about this for a second coz I'm kinda stoked at the moment, just because.
I love few things in life more than getting into a groove with whatever projects I'm working on, blocking out every external influence, and moving to the beat and harmonies of amazing music.
Of course, what moves me and what moves you might be different. But I have found that the best relationships I have had, be they friendships with guys or romantic interactions with women, all shared a common theme – we were / are moved by the same musical pulsations.
And yeah, I like a LOT of different kinds of music. My iPod has everything from Metallica to Celine Dion, Garth Brooks to Tupac, and I think there's even a Brittney song.
But what really moves me is different than bubblegum I might listen to on occasion. What really moves me is what I listen to when I want to transcend mediocrity and create tangible harmonies, when I want to do things of worth, create things of lasting value.
That's the music of the soul. It's different for most people, but it's the same for a few. And when it lines up, something magical is revealed.
Whether it's just a shared experience with friends or a strengthening of a love affair, being able to function on the same wavelength of sounds with others is a rare and spectacular treat.
Most people claim they'll never "settle" in life, and yet most people do just that. When it comes to our interpersonal relationships though, the litmus test could simply be the musical test. Without that clicking, abandon all hope ye who enter therein…
But when it does? Mmm. Amazing things happen.
