Michael Jordan’s "For The Love of the Game" is a book I flip through often – I keep in my throne room for some quick mental inspiration. Why settle for the creepy bs in "Chicken Soup…" et al when I can read the thoughts of the greatest athlete in history?

This is related to the 1996 Championship, but it’s good stuff for anytime:

"…I was so determined that day. It was like sometimes you get so angry that you cry. That’s how determined I was to win that game. I was so angry and so happy at the same time. There was no way I could control my emotions…I had come all the way back. There had been some disappointments along the way, but they taught me to to do the right thing. If you do the work, you get rewarded. There are no shortcuts in life."

Mmmm.

Michael Phelps is all over the news this week. What’s the common theme everyone talks about on this greatest Olympian of all time’s quest for 8 gold’s in one Games? PREPARATION. How much work he puts in.

Discipline. Passion. Glory…
