I have had a rant going for probably a good 6 years now regarding the people who work at kinkos (and everyone who knows me is sick of hearing it, so I’m blogging it lol).

Kinkos people are, almost without exception, "can’t do" people. I have only had one person in that entire time (at any kinkos, in any city) that looked for SOLUTIONS to meet my needs. Because of him, I definitely spent more money than I would have otherwise at kinkos.

So why do I go back? Well, they’re really the only instant-turnaround print shop that I can physically go to when I need something and need it, like, now. I do all my other printing and clients’ printing with online shops, where costs are low, turnaround is quick, and file setup is simple.

So for those urgent needs, it sucks even more than the people behind the counter could care less about finding a way to assist me in getting what I want when I want it. I realize they’d rather be sipping a chai latte while listening to emo punk and playing with their septum piercing, but come ON! Do your freaking job.

Half of the time they try and act snide and talk down to me like I’m a moron, when they don’t have the slightest clue even what the difference is between CMYK and RGB. Very annoying.

And actually the title of this post isn’t giving Starbucks employees enough credit – they actually do have to exhibit a modicum of intelligence to work there, and it’s one of the best places to work (or so I’m told) for a reason – they have great corporate culture. They foster an atmosphere of actually CARING about the customer, and it comes from the top down (and the top down probably cares about the employees too, which makes a difference).

Apparently that message has never been sent through the comm lines of Kinkos peeps.

Which is ironic, because I swear by FedEx, they have a proven track record with my business. Can’t say the same for the company they bought.
